Homemade Chocolate Syrup
by Jonni McCoy
What better after school snack than ice cream with homemade chocolate syrup that your kids helped to make! We have done this in our house. Not only does it save money to make your own but it tastes great and is lots of fun for the kids. Try this great recipe with your kids today.
Homemade Chocolate Syrup
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup cold water
1 tbsp vanilla
Combine cocoa and sugar and blend until all lumps of cocoa are gone. Add water and salt and mix well. Cook over medium heat, bringing it to a boil. Keep boiling until thick, stirring to keep from overflowing.
Remove from heat and let cool. When cool, add vanilla. This is great for chocolate milk, hot cocoa, and ice cream topping.
