Crafty Cooking Kits

IMAGE

This week's recipe was submitted to us by 5 year old Gabriella in New Britain , Connecticut.
Gabriella's Mom says, "A great time for parent and child to have fun. Gabriella enjoyed 'plopping' the biscuits in the pan. The smell is sinful. This is a 'must make'! "

Monkey Bread

Tools needed:

Bundt pan
Soup bowl
Knife
Dry measuring cup
Paper towels
Microwaveable bowl

This recipe requires the use of kitchen scissors, a knife or blender/food processor. Please be careful when handling sharp objects. Have a grown up around in case you need help. Ingredients:

3 4oz packages Pillsbury Oven Rolls (from tube:serves 10 per)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 Tbsp cinnamon
1 cup brown sugar
1 stick butter (equal to 1/2 cup)

This recipe requires cooking on the stove or in the oven. Practice safety around open flame and always use an oven mitt when removing something from the oven. Instructions:
Grease the bundt pan generously with butter. Preheat oven 350. Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon in bowl. Cut each biscuit in quarters and cover with the sugar mixture. 'Plop' coated biscuits in the bundt pan. Melt stick of butter and then stir in brown sugar. Stir well. Pour over biscuits slowly. Bake for 30-35 minutes.

Prep time: 15 mins. approx.
Serves: approximately 12 - 14

NOTE:
MomsMenu, FamilyCorner, and Crafty Cooking Kits are excited that your children enjoy being in the kitchen. While it is a lot of fun to cook, it is also a big responsibility and caution should be exercised with certain recipes. Whenever there is cooking involved, you will see the red "HOT" button on that particular recipe. Should cutting or chopping be necessary, the orange "SHARP" button will appear. Parents, Please always supervise your children while in the kitchen, never leave your kids alone while cooking, cutting, or handling food. Let’s keep the cooking experience happy and safe!

While there are many reasons for teaching kids to cook -- less expensive than eating out, preserves family heritage, etc, the most important reason is that by teaching your child to cook, you're giving him a better chance to be a healthy grown-up. Enabling your child with the ability to appreciate freshness and to transform ingredients into tasty foods opens their eyes to making wiser choices about what to eat...
