Blueberries Stack Up For Breakfast And Beyond
Any time you want to make a quick breakfast that will give your day an excellent start, simply layer a few ingredients for a "Super Breakfast Parfait"! Stack blueberries, yogurt and granola in a glass or bowl-or make your parfait in a disposable cup to take with you.
Create your own favorite blueberry parfait combos for breakfast, snacks or dessert. How about layering blueberries with sherbet and crushed cereal? Or try stacking blueberries with cubes of fruit-flavored gelatin and cookie crumbs.
A one-cup serving of blueberries contributes to our daily intake of dietary fiber and vitamin C with only 80 calories. Blueberries also rank high in antioxidants. And blueberries--whether fresh, frozen, canned, dried or juice-are easy to enjoy in many ways!
Here are more easy ideas for adding the flavor and health benefits of blueberries to breakfast, snacks, salads and desserts:
Simply stack blueberries with yogurt and granola for a "Super Breakfast Parfait".
Toss together cereal, tiny pretzels and dried blueberries; pack in zip-top bags to take along.
Stir fresh, frozen or dried blueberries into carrot salad or ham salad.
Whirl a smoothie in the blender with low-fat milk, frozen blueberries and honey-or make a non-dairy version with fruit juice instead of milk.
Make a colorful snack by blending fruit juice and canned or frozen blueberries until smooth; pour into tall glasses and add a little club soda; top with a scoop of frozen yogurt.
