Hi Everybody
I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself, say hello, and welcome you all to the "Ask the Chef" forum here at Momsmenu.com.
My name is Chef Mark Vogel and I write the "Food for Thought" column on momsmenu.
If you have any kinds of cooking questions, please feel free to post them in the "Ask the Chef" forum and I will be happy to answer them.
I look forward to hearing from you all. Thanks for being part of a great website.
Eat, drink, & be merry.
Mark

Welcome Chef Mark! I did see your bio and link the other day. However, I kept getting looped around. I think I am supposed to start a new thread? Sorry, I just started graduate school, so I miss a lot. I hope everyone here keeps you busy.
I did have a question for you, but I will try to post it when I am not busy or if I have time in a few.

Chef Mark, I remember my question. How has your degree in psychology helped you as a chef or in the food industry? I am working on my MA in clinical psycholgy is the reason why I asked. When I was little, I wanted to cook and nothing else. I tease my DH and tell him that I am going to a culinary arts school after I get my PhD. lol

Hello Chef Mark! I know I have some questions for you also, but right now my head is in a whirlwind and I can't remember what they are. But as soon as those questions pop back up I'll be asking!

Debora:
I wouldn'y say that my psychology degrees have "helped" my culinary endeavors. If anything, my culinary work has helped me stay sane. Its such a refreshing change, I can't begin to put it in words.
I was a psychologist first, but my passion has always been food and wine.
I guess, if we absolutely have to give some credit to psychology, I would
say it has deepened my understanding of the relationship between food and people and the ways people pathologize food and health.

Chef Mark. I completely agree. I myself find that cooking is an excellant way to de-stress. Also, during stressful days, I can make some homemade soup and I feel so much better. I envy your education. I wish I had the time to also attend a culinary arts school.
