View Full Version : Round Steak with Herbs in the Crock Pot

This is a BH&G recipe


2 pounds beef round steak, cut 3/4 inch thick
1 medium onion, sliced
1 10 3/4 oz can condensed cream of celery soup
1/2 tsp dried oregano, crushed
1/4 tsp dried thyme, crushed
1/4 tsp black pepper
Hot cooked whole wheat pasta,optional


Trim fat from meat. Cut steak into serving-size portions. Place onion in a 3 1/2 or 4 quart slow cooker and place meat on top of onion. In a small bowl combine soup, oregano, thyme, and pepper and pour over meat. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 10 to 12 hours or on high-heat setting for 5 to 6 hours. serve with hot cooked pasta. Makes 6 servings.

Has anyone tried this? I made it yesterday and didnt care for it.

Yes, have you used the cream of celery soup before? In most recipes it is a "hidden" taste , but not in this one. You could substitiute cream of mushroom soup if you think it was the cream of celery flavor. Is that what you didn't like about it? We love it when I make it, but some say we eat weird! LOL Sorry you didn't like it!

The celery soup mixture tasted fine when i taste teseted it before I put it in the pot. Hmm I'm thinking maybe it was the mix of the herbs as it cooked. DH liked it but it didnt tickle my fancy. Maybe I did somethign wrong when I made it

Sorry you didn't like it. Maybe it would be a good thing to make up small freezer meals for DH when he needs them?

Thats a good idea, since he liked it. Maybe next time I could dry a different mix of spices
