When I first married I couldn't maske gravy worth a darn till I found this one!

2 tbsp beef or poultry fat for drippings
2 cups water or broth
2 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water
salt & pepper to taste

Pour off drippings and return 2 tbsp to roasting pan. Stir in 2 cups liquid. Cook over medium heat and stir to loosen browned bits. Remove from heat. Mix cornstarch and 1/4 cup cold water till smooth and stir into liquid in pan. Add salt & pepper stirring constantly and bring to a boil over medium heat and boil 1 minute. Makes about 2 cups

I grew up eating this gravy. My Mom would thicken it with flour sometimes too.

Get this....My husband won't eat any type of white gravy so I have to use Kitchen Bouquet to color it.
