Does anyone have an easy recipe using a pork butt roast in a crockpot?

I'm looking for something with few ingredients.

Thanks!
Tami

Tami, I usually just stick mine in the crockpot with salt, pepper, and garlic. Sometimes, about an hour before it is done, I add a can of golden mushroom soup. It's simple and everyone raves over it and I get requests for it during the holidays.

I put cumin, chili powder, salt, pepper and molasses on mine and let it cook. If I don't have molasses I will use brown sugar.

I never thought of putting molassas on pork. Interesting. I LOVE molassas.

Here's one from cooks.com

EASY CROCK POT PORK ROAST

1 lg. pork roast with or without bone
Kitchen Bouquet

Rub Kitchen Bouquet all over pork roast. Season with Mrs. Dash, if desired. Place roast on a rack in crock pot. Cover and cook on high 6 to 8 hours. (I use cooked shredded meat for burritos.) No need to add water, fat drains to bottom and creates steam.

Kalua Pork Recipe

From CDKitchen Cooking

Serves/Makes: 8

5 pounds pork butt or shoulder
1 tablespoon liquid smoke or soy sauce
1 clove garlic, crushed (optional)
3 tablespoons Hawaiian salt (or sea salt)

The night before the big feast, cut slits in pork and rub with Hawaiian salt, garlic & liquid smoke, and place in crockpot. Add an inch of water. Turn crockpot on low and leave it to cook for 10-12 hours, flipping pork over halfway through. Take meat out of crockpot and shred with two forks.

Just to make sure that I know what I'm looking for, the Kitchen Bouquet is the stuff in the dark brown bottle with a Yellow? label that is used for darkening gravies too, right?

This sounds really good. My family loves burritos so I think that I am going to use this recipe!

Thanks so much! :)

Yes that 's it! In a pinch you could use worcestershire sauce!

Wanted to let everyone know that I went shopping and totally forgot to buy the Kitchen Bouquet!

I cooked it the roast anyway with a little onion salt and blk. pepper. It turned out great, even my DH said it was really good--which is amazing considering he isn't crazy about meat cooked this way. He will eat it but won't usually rave about it. :)

I made burritos out of the meat. I have enough left over for a couple of burritos for his lunch tonight.

Thanks for the other recipes! I still plan on trying some of them!

It mainly is just to darker the liquid anyway; I don't think it adds much flavor, not as much as the worcertershire does; glad it turned out!

Great to hear. I never thought to make burritos out of the meat. Excellant idea.

If you like pulled pork this is what I do - I slice up a few onions and layer them on the bottom of the crock pot, then I put in the pork butt and season with salt, pepper & garlic powder. Next I pour in a bottle of BBQ sauce (any kind will do - I use the store brand or anything that is on sale) - cook on low all day (8-10 hours is good). Then I shred the roast with a couple forks, mix it all up a bit and serve on rice or buns for pulled pork sandwiches. This tastes exactly like the pulled pork at a nearby BBQ restaurant!

TO DIE FOR POT ROAST
1 roast
1 pkt. ranch dressing mix
1 pkt. Italian dressing mix
1 pkt. brown gravy mix
1/2 c. water

Place roast in crockpot. Mix pkts and water together. Pour over roast. Cook on Low 8-10 hours.

*** I revised this recipe to include chunks of potato, carrots, and onion. I sprayed the crockpot with cooking spray then put in the cut up veggies. I cut the roast into 1" slabs and set them over the veggies. Then I poured the sauce over. Cooked on High for about 6 hours and it was done. It makes a nice gravy, too.
