When you are following a recipe be sure to use the pectin specified in the recipe, the two are not interchangable. Usually powdered pectin is stirred into the fruit and brought to a boil before the sugar is added. Liquid pectin is added to the mixture after all other ingredients have been brought to a boil.
Thought I'd pass this on as my sister didn't know that and ended up ruining a batch of jam!:eek:
