Chipotle has one of the yummiest hot sauces! Does anyone have a copycat recipe for it?

Chipotle chili sauce


1/2 cup canned chipotle chiles
1/2 cup cold water
1 teaspoon instant chicken bouillon granules
Place all ingredients in a blender and purée to liquefy. This makes 1 cup of the hottest chile sauce you will find anywhere.

Thanks snow! This isnt the recipe I dont think but it sounds good and I'm going to try it once I get a chance to pick up some more stock.

According to the Chipotle Mexican Grill Menu, there are four salsas offered:

Fresh Tomato (mild)
Roasted Chili Corn (medium)
Tomatillo Green Chili (medium)
Tomatillo Red Chili (hot)


Still couldn't find a "true recipe" for one of these, but the one below might come close to one of them.



Chipotle Salsa

Makes 1 3/4 cups
5 tomatillos
4 plum tomatoes
5 cloves garlic, skins intact
1 small onion, in 1/4 ",slices
5 canned chipotle chiles, with 2 tbsp. adobo sauce
2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
granulated sugar to taste
salt to taste


Preheat broiler. Line baking pan with foil. Lightly oil pan with olive oil.
Broil tomatillos, tomatoes, garlic (with skin on), and onion until browned on all sides, turning frequently. Remove skins from garlic. Place vegetables in food processor or blender and add remaining ingredients. Chop coarsely or pulse lightly. Season to taste.
