I am planning a tapas party later in the summer. I am trying to come up with a theme. Any ideas? I'd prefer something that isn't too complicated.

Since Tapas are traditionally Spanish, Why not let your party have a Spanish Theme. Of course serve Sangrias but decorate w/ colorful plates, other Spainish themed decorations. Go on the internet and find about cultures in Spain and go from there.

Doris, welcome to MM! Sounds like a good idea. I don't know anything about the Spanish culture, so I would have to do some investigation. Thanks!

also check on the food network, I found some interesting information there as well. Thanks for the welcome.

Thank you Amayesing. That is where I first heard about tapas. Then I have heard about Tapas restaurants. That is the reason that I want to have that theme as a party before the fall semseter begins. Thanks again.

DeBora, I just found in Rachael Ray's first cookbook (30 Minute Meals) that she has a tapas recipe. If you can't get your hands on that book, let me know & I'll copy the recipe for you.

Please do Barb. I don't have a bookstore here in Carlsbad and it won't be until about the time school starts that I'll be back in Cruces. Thanks!

Never heard of tapas before I saw it on here and today while in Louisville there it was on a sign outside a Mexican restaurant! Is it a food or a type of food or what; gotta know!

It is Spanish for "lids" I believe. It is a finger food or appetizer. I have heard that there are a series of Tapas restaurants opening up all over the country. I wish there were some in my area.
