2 pkgs. (1/4 oz each) active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110-115 degrees)
2 cups warm milk (110-115 degrees)
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1 1/2 tsp salt
3/4 tsp gtound cardamom
2 eggs
7 to 8 cups all purpose flour

In a mixiing bowl dissolve yeast in warm water. Add next 6 ingredients and 3 cups flour and beat till smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface and knead till smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place till doubled about 1 hour. Punch dough down and turn onto a lightly floured surface and divide in half. Divide each half into thirds. Shape each piece into a 13" rope. Place all three onto a greased baking sheet and braid all together; pinch ends and tuck under. Repeat with remaining dough. Cover and let rise till doubled, about 45 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or till golden. Remove to wire racks to cool. Youcan frost these with confectioners' sugar icing. Makes 2 loaves * The double rising makes the bread fluffy and gives it a light feel.
