I LOVE these and they are definately worth the work.

Fried Calamari

2 cup calamari sliced into rings (use tubes and tentacles)
2 cup buttermilk
2 cup all-purpose flour
Salt and pepper
Oil, for frying
2 tablespoons butter

Clean and soak calamari in buttermilk for 2 hours before cooking. Drain well in a large mixing bowl. Season flour with salt and pepper. Dredge calamari with flour until each ring separates easily from others. Put in sifter and shake off excess flour. Heat oil and fry calamari until golden brown. DO NOT OVERCOOK!

Maybe if I didn't know what I was eating I could give it a try, but no way I could cook it and eat it. You wouldn't believe how long it was before I could clean canned salmon and then try to eat it! LOL But, I bet it's good!~

If you liek onion rings, onion blossom, and fried shrimp, you'll LOVE these. They have less stronger flavor than either. Also, if you ever saw a shrimp, you might not eat it. LOL

Yes I do like those and I've seen the shrimp, but for some reason the calamari just gets to me; probably just because I've never tried it! LOL

Get something with calamari in it, That way you don't feel bad if you don't eat it all.

I'll have to look around a menu when we go out sometime. I wonder if maybe a Red Lobster would have it on their menu?

I know Red Lobster has them. Maybe you could get a sampler appetizer platter and get teh calamri. I promise that you'll be hooked once you taste them.

I'll have to go online and be sure they have some dishes broiled so DH can eat something, and if I give it a try I'll let you know!

They do have broiled fish. You may have to specify not to add butter or whatever he cannot have.

I usually do have to tell places that , but you would be surprised as some places refuse; they say eat it like we prepare it or don't order it! Needless to say, we don't return to those places!

I know Red Lobster pre-prepares many of their dishes early in the morning so that all they have to do is grill it. However, since they make everything themselves, they should be able to throw something together for your DH. Some things, such as the soups cannot be altered though. I worked there for a long time.
