I have seen it advertised. I am not sure if I'll be watching, but if others watch it maybe they'll post it here. Please let us know how it turns out. This may be an addictive program.

I guess I'll have to be on the lookout for that one! Have never heard of it. We don't watch much local channels at night so guess that is why I'm in the dark! LOL

In the previews, the head chef or restaurant owner screams and yells at the staff until they cry. It seems pretty intense and crazy as things are in the restaurant business--except no screaming and yelling. LOL

Oh Boy; sounds like a lawsuit waiting!!!LOL

DeBora4BobbyL
06-13-2006, 05:09 PM
It's one of those reality shows. There are so many that have people taking risks, that I do not know how none of them get sued from the injuries. In my opinion the people who are involved will be emotionally injured rather than physically injured. I would bet anything they have had to sign a paper stating they would not sue in exchange for $$$$. LOL

OH, I wonder then does it really show any real cooking?

Maybe Oochigoo will tell us more about what she saw the other night later. From the commercials, there is. I know when I worked in the restaurant business there was intense pressure. It was rush, getting triple seated (when I was a waitress), cooks, dish washers, and other staff not showing up (when I was a manager), people complaining for valid and nonvalid reasons, food not being cooked right, accidents in the kitchen--partially due to the rush, and on and on and on. It was good money for me, but there was extreme pressure. I just cannot imagine adding a person in charge with a temper!

Oh I remember years ago my DH was an assistant manager in a Pizza Hut
(1969-ish) and I use to go "help" on Sundays (just to be with him) and a lot of what you describe went on, I just think now a days it seems much worse from what I've seen when we are in a restuarant(which isn't often).

World-renowned chef GORDON RAMSAY is back for a second serving of the sizzling unscripted series HELL’S KITCHEN – and he’s putting 12 new would-be restaurateurs on his chopping block. A former pro-soccer-player-turned-Michelin-starred-chef, Ramsay has conquered London’s haute cuisine scene. Now he’s crossing the Pond again, to discover – or create – America’s next culinary star. The heat is on and the "steaks" are high as the contestants endure Ramsay’s hellishly intense culinary boot camp for a chance to win the ultimate mouth-watering prize – the coveted title of Executive Chef of a luxurious fine-dining restaurant at the brand-new Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas. In addition, the winner will be eligible to receive a financial interest in the restaurant and assist its design. Each week Ramsay will grill the ambitious hopefuls as they attempt to prove they have what it takes to run their own restaurant. He will slice and dice the contestants, keeping only those who possess the right combination of ingredients to ensure success. The contestants’ inexperience, combined with the perfectionist Ramsay’s acid tongue, may be a recipe for disaster, but for one aspiring restaurateur it’s the chance of a lifetime. In this pressure-cooker environment, only one thing is certain: if the contestants can’t stand the heat, they’ll have to get out of HELL’S KITCHEN. Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa is located 10 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip at the base of Red Rock Canyon and features 850 rooms, a 35,000- square-foot spa, Rande Gerber’s nightclub Cherry, nine restaurants and gaming. -fox tv

It sounds like American Idol. That Simon guy (I've never watched it though) says the most horrible things to the up and coming stars. But, they have to get used to it in that business.

LOL That's pretty bad to be worse than Simon! Of source, Simon doesn't look like he's about to blow a gasket like the chef guy I saw on the pre-views.

That's what I like about my cable in Carlsbad. I can set reminders and they will pop up to tell me when my show is on. However, if I am not watching TV, then I don't know about the reminder.

Attention Ladies...don't forget - "Hell's Kitchen" is on tomorrow night
8EST/7CNRL

DeBora - Yes, NASCAR was here (just got your message now) I haven't been on all weekend, been busy. But we've been talking about it here in Michigan, the weather here is o.k., hot..but thunderstorms. What a bumer for the people who went. My husband, myself and my brother were going to go but waited for the last minute and didn't end up going. I would have loved to go. I went to the Charlotte race a few years ago. WHAT A BLAST!!!!!! HOW AWESOME!!!! YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW UNLESS YOU GO!!! It's not the same on t.v.

I saw the previews of this show. My goodness, the chef is also a bit physically violent too in that he throws and hits things. I guess that sells programs. lol

I was a bit bummed that a chunk of the last laps got rained out. I agree, a live race is so awesome! So many people are tailgating. People who don't even know each other share their meals together. I noticed that the traffic in Michigan isn't near as bad as it is at other tracks. Watching it on television is better is you know what is going on as far as what they are doing to the cars, what is going on with the cars on the track, the terminology, and so on. Looks like Bobby and a few others gambled today hoping the rain would go away and lost. Bummer!

I'll try to remember the program tomorrow.

DH was flipping through the channel guide and I saw the listing so we left it on the channel; well, sorry to say I only watched about 20 minutes of it and just couldn't get into it. They had the "boys" against the "girls" and the arguing and ***ism was just too much I thought so I won't be watching again.

I was just channel surfing and stumbled across a show on the BBC channel called, "Ramsey's Kitchen." I started watching it because I thought it was a cooking show. (The guy that just won the cooking thing on Foodnetwork has a program on and I just really dislike him.) Anyway, after watching for a few minutes, I realize that this chef might just be the same one from Hell's kitchen! It sure is!

Anyway, he is blunt, but he is working very well with restaurant owners to help them see why their restaurant isn't working to help them get it back going on track. I like the BBC program!

Does he scream and yell at them too! LOL

DeBora4BobbyL
07-09-2006, 10:47 AM
I haven't seen him scream and I have been watching for about 40 minutes. He uses the F word a lot and has argued with the restaurant owner a few times, but it was within context of the situation. He's mostly just blunt or honest with the ppl he is working with. I am really enjoying it. He's got one guy to get his restaurant back and up just in time because he was about to go under. The preview shows that the next show has Ramsey making another chef putting money, along with himself, into a piggy bank everytime he cusses. lol

I noticed that this chef is as different as night and day from the BBC show and the American show. DH compares it to the difference between Emeril's day show and night show. I think he changes to accomodate the different types of viewing audiences.
