Do you remember.........

Boo Berry cereal? I dont even know if they still make this or not but my sister used to love this.

space ship wafer candy--I still dont know what these were made of but they would melt in your mouth and then inside were tiny beads of candy. They tasted awful--kind of like eating styrofoam. LOL!!

candy necklaces and bracelets--too cool!

soda pop caps--the rootbeer ones were my favorite!

wax bottle candy that had the liquid in them.

who's next???

Good one Tami!

I remember...

wax lips
candy ciggarettes
Zotz
Candy watch
Baseball card gum
Laffy Taffy
Zebra gum (wasn't that the clove flavored gum?)

There are many retro candy stores if you want to treat someone to something special. I did to my Secret Sister over a Family Corner when I had someone who was a candy fanatic!

Oh gosh you're goning to make me want candy! Do you remember:

Horlicks Tablets; they were a malted milk tablet you could get in chocolate or just malted flavor

Vermont Maple Leaf Candy

Nonpareils (the ones you get now just don't taste the same)

chocolate covered cream drops

Black Jack gum

I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now!

I liked those Marathon chocolate-caramel bars.

"Quisp" cereal

Buc-wheats cereal (That was SO good! I'd love to find it again!)

New Coke (OK, that was college...)

My Nana always had Coke in the green bottles and Welch's grape juice that came in a 3-pk. I really miss those green bottles. Coke tasted better in them too! They don't have those any more. I used to miss all the food from the drive-in, but after we moved to Carlsbad, we get that all back!

Teaberry gum! I found it several years ago again in an Asian grocery, but that isn't there any longer either!

I used to like Frankenberry cereal. I found it in a store last fall and bought it. It tasted just like I remembered! My son didn't like it though. What does he know!

We lived up the road from a penny candy store when I was growing up. I used to like those spaceship candies, and the red licorice pipes, and squirrel nuts!

I liked Chicklets, Malto Meal, and Cream of Wheat, Jaw Breakers, sour ball, the pink peanut brittle. That's about all I can think of for now

Has anyone tried Bear Mush (raw winter wheat)? It is just like Malto Meal.

Isnt that funny what our kids dont like! My son was so used to eating the generic brand of Honeycombs that if I get the real stuff on sale, he wont eat it! He says that it tastes terrible.

I found Teaberry and BlackJack gum in Mayberry (Mt. Airy in NC). I bought one of each for my Mom and sent them to her. :) They were more expensive though....like .99 a pack since they were labled "old fashioned".

Blackjack gum was the other one I remember, but I haven't seen it in a long time! Wish I could find it!

Catlover, you can still buy Blackjack gum. Here's one (http://www.hometownfavorites.com/shop/candy_cat.asp?c=10&p=1&id=1348&newp=) store. I have personally ordered from this store, but there are several other retro candy stores. The main page offers you the chance to order things from a particular decade.

I use to love lemon heads!

Rhi, those are one of the very few lemon flavored foods that I will eat and like!

Thanks DeBora, I'll check out the site!

DH and I use lemonheads to drop into a cup of hot tea! Gives you some sweetener and a touch of lemon flavor!

If you look around, there is a website that sells 'classic' candy.

DeBora4BobbyL

I never tried using the word classic in the search engine. I used the word "retro." There are a lot of those stores that sell the stuff we loved as children.

I do a catalog that sells lots of retro stuff and it has some of the candies in it, but not a lot. Will definetely have to go and look online. Thanks!

I found out about the retro candy on a talk show. They also sell kits from many eras, like a 60s kit or whatever.

We have a box of Count Chocula in the house right now.

Around Halloween those cereals are marketed heavily!

I've never thought of using a lemonhead to sweeten a cup of tea! I'll have to try that one.

I remember going to A&W restaurants when I was little. They were similar to Sonic today. Us children always got a "baby" which was a very small root beer. Today, when I was on my way home, I missed my turn off and when I was going through a turn-around, I saw an A&W restaurant! Although it didn't look like a Sonic type. I want to try that sometime. That is a flavor from my childhood.

Doesn't that make you feel good when a wrong turn turns into something good after all!?LOL

DeBora4BobbyL

This is actually the first time something good came out of getting lost. I usually end up in downtown El Paso (not a place you want to be) or the turn off to Juarez! lol

It don't take long to get from my turn off to downtown El Paso. That is a scary place during 5 o'clock traffic.
