One trick I have picked up when preparing more than one dish or meal at a time is to multitask.
Check all the recipes. If more than one need the same ingredient, prepare that ingredient at the same time. Measure all your flour at the same time (be sure to keep the bowls separate); chop all your onions at the same time.
You can even do this over the course of a few days or a week. If you know that you'll be needing chopped onions for 3 recipes in a particular week, chop enough the first time to last for all 3 recipes.

Barbszy is soooo organized! I would love to be able to say that I am improving in this area but :o Im not. I think that being a Gemini has something to do with it.  ( Sounds like a good excuse, doesn't it?)

LOL In life, I always take any excuses I can get when I can! :D I used to be able to cook several meals at once when I was in Carlsbad. I can and still do between semesters. However, when I am in school and I am in this RV, I am limited on space--everywhere. LOL So, I can only buy enough fresh food for about a couple of days. I cannot wait until school is over in a million years. LOL

A trick that I use is to cook up my hamburger meat and add tomatoe sauce in a large pot. I them seperate it for different meals.
I put it over rice, differnt shape pasta, use it for Lasagna and also for chile.

Nothing is better than ground beef and tomato sauce! It's my fave.

I like doing this, too. I try to keep a week's menus in mind to make sure I use what I buy instead of half of it, too. Just one example, I made a special potato dish that used 1/2 cup of sour cream, so since the container was a whole cup, we'll have baked potatoes another night.
