This was the recipe my Great Great Aunt used to make; her recipe didn't have a bake temperature nor a time. Those "instructions" are my addition for how I bake them. They have their name because of the yeast in them which make them "rise" some; therefore "Angel " biscuits
1 1/4 oz pkg. active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water (115 degrees)
5 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3 tbsp sugar
3/4 cup shortening
2 cups buttermilk
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix together all dry ingredients and work in shortening. Add buttermilk, water, and yeast mixture and mix well. Place in a greased pan. Bake at 400 degrees about 15 minutes or till lightly browned
