I keep hearing about the virtues of Pressure cooking. There are so many different kinds out there! Does anyone have one and use one? Is there something one should look for when purchasing one? I have seen digital, and short ones, and tall ones and heavy ones and light ones. Help?

I used one with my Mom way too many years ago. The kind with the metal top on that whistled. I think they are making a come back. I would check out pressure cooker recipes before investing in one. This is coming from a kitchen gadget freak.

Oh my goodness, I haven't used a pressure cooker in a long time. I mostly use a slow cooker as I can cook while I am gone. But, pressure cookers speed up the process of the cooking. Mine is a heavy one for cooking stews and such. The top and 3 pressure settings. I have never used a digital one and I would fear that it would break, but I am old-fashioned.
We also have a pressure cooking forum (http://www.momsmenu.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=93) if you want to check it out for recipes.
Good luck.

I have several pressure cookers , but they have been sitting in m pantry for several years. When the boys were living with us and I worked I used them a lot to speed up cooking. But now that I don't need to "hurry" I just don;t use them much. Not geting rid of them because they are a useful kitchen tool when you have the need. They can make tough meats tender too! I have Presto brand pressure cookers and still can get the new inner rings that need to be replaced once in awhile. They can be a good useful tool if you have the need. One other thing; you can't go off and forget about them, they must be tended to as they cook so the pressure doesn't build up too much. Before you decide on one read up on the proper way to use them; they can be a great tool!

Cat Lover, thanks for your advise. I really appreciate it. I am going to purchase one when I find the right one. Do you have any recipe favourites you would share with me?

I have quite a few recipes that I have used in the pressure cooker; is there anything special you would be looking for? Main dishes, veggies or just everything? Will be glad to share; let me know here what you want and I'll post them in the pressure cooker forum so it will be easy for anyone to see about pressure cooking recipes.

Hi, I am new but would like any pressure cooker recipes. My daughter lives with me; I work days and she works nights so anything quick and fast would help. I read that cat lover has a lot, so anything would help. I also love cats and have 7.

OMGOODNESS!!! That was the best soup I have ever made! I am amazed at how the flavours really get concentrated.
Tonight I made chili in it. It is the same chili I always make and everyone was asking me what was different. I still can't taste a lot, but it was real good!
I think I am in love with my new pressure cooker!!!! I need recipes!!
