1/2 cup shortening
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 cup milk
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups cornmeal
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
Cream shortening with sugar, add egg and milk. Combine dry ingredients and add to liquid mixture. Stir till smooth. Fill greased muffin cups 3/4 full and bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Makes 1 dozen
