Used to start in September planning the meal itself and purchasing the ingredients and the schedule for preparing the food itself. When I worked I had to prepare certain dishes and freeze some; DH would follow my directions and place them in the oven on a schedule so when I came home from work(I always had to work that day) we were almost ready to eat. Other than the meal we never planned anything else as the most extra it might be would be one of the boys friends that had no where to go or a single friend of ours with no where else to go either. Some times my MIL would be the one coing over. I always cooked a really huge amount of food so it made it nice to share with others that day.

I ordered my fresh turkey already. I planned my menu for the day. I will pick up the items I need next weekend. I will make my pies the weekend before Thanksgiving. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving I will go pick up my turkey. I have never made a fresh turkey before. I usually use a frozen one. Dh and I desided to pay the extra money this year and try one. People tell us how much better they are. If I find a really good sale on frozen turkeys. I will buy one and put it in the freezer to make later.
