4 Tbs soy sauce
2 Tbs creamy peanut butter
2 Tbs sugar
2 tsp white vinegar
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 tsp. toasted sesame oil
1/8 tsp Chinese Five Spice Powder
Put all ingredients in a blender and run until everything is smooth and well combined. Store in a snap top container.
Yield: Approx. 1/3 cup.
"Real" hoisin sauce has tons of sugar and is made with fermented soybean paste. Peanut butter is unauthentic but it tastes quite good.
