This has a different flavor, but good!
Russian Fried Pastries
2 1/2 cups flour
1 package active dry yeast
1 cup milk
1 t salt
1/4 t salt
1/4 t sugar
1/2 lb groud beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 clove minced garlic
1/2 cup tomato sauce
2 T grated parmesan cheese
2 T snipped or dried parsley
1/4 t salt
1/4 t ground cinnamon
1/8 t pepper
1/8 t ground ginger
3 T cooking oil
Make dough using flour, yeast, warm milk, salt, and sugar. Cover and let rise for 1 hour until double. Cook beef in skillet with onion and garlic until brown. Drain. Stir in tomato sauce, cheese, parsley, salt, cinnamon, pepper, and ginger. Heat through. Shape into 12 balls. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Roll each into 5 inch balls. Place 2 T of meat mixture on each circle. Close all sides. In heavy 12 inch skillet with oil cook on medium heat until crisp and light brown. Keep warm and serve hot.
