This link contains a list of safe sources and types of tomatoes (http://www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopics/tomatoes.html#retailers). Fortunately New Jersey is on the safe list, since it's almost time for those famously delicious Jersey tomatoes!

Thanks for posting this Barb. I've been so busy that I didn't even think about it.
Well, you know where we get our tomatoes since I am in Texas. So far, no illnesses. But, that may be due to the fact that I always get the "on the vine" tomatoes as well as the grape ones. DH just doesn't like tomatoes, so he was clear.

We have cut back on the tomatoes at this time, hope our vines start producing soon as we'll know they are safe to eat.

I don't know what I'd do if I had to go without tomatoes! It is my favorite fruit/veggie. I have to have it in stews, spaghetti sauce, salads, and so on.

I've not eaten tomatoes since the scare. A friend of mine grows them and keeps telling me to stop by. We've just done nothing red for a while now LOL.

I just realized that Texas and New Mexico are on the safe list. That is probably why I didn't get sick with all the tomatoes that I eat.

Thanks for the link. I always look forward to tomato season & was very ticked when it first hit the news. Thank goodness Il is safe & I can start having my grilled cheese & tomato sandwiches, BLT's etc. Nothing better than homegrown maters!

Dallasalice, I also like grilled cheese & tomato. Fortunately I was able to find "safe" tomatoes at the store so I can enjoy my favorite summertime sandwich.

Has anyone else added green chilies or grilled onions to your grilled cheese sandwich? They are good too.

Grilled onions...yes. One of our favorites is grilled turkey, cheese and onions.
