Oh you are so lucky! I have tried and tried to get a mulberry tree to grow! All the local nursieries tell me I need to find a wild one and dig it up. I've tried the mail order places and never have had any luck with them. My MIL used to have one at her back fence and we loved them! I always just used any blackberry recipes for them. Do you need or want some of those?

This is the one I have used for Mulberry Jam
3 cups fresh mulberries
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
3 tbsp orange juice OR brandy
1/4 cup orange juice
3 tbsp cornstarch
In a large saucepan combine mulberries, sugar, molasses, and brandy. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat. Cook, uncovered over medium heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. In a bowl stir together the orange juice and cornstarch. Add to the berry mixture in the saucepan. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Cover and chill up to 2 weeks.
** You can also clean and freeze the berries and make this as needed with the frozen berries.
I believe I have a "freezer jam" recipe that you can use for the mulberries also, but it isn't in the correct file. If I find it I'll post it too.
Just remember you can use mulberries in any recipe calling for blackberries; mulberry cobbler is great too!

Sweetnell, did yo ever get to make any recipes using your mulberries? I STILL am looking for a wild one to transplant here! Have found several large trees in the city, but never anything small that I could dig up; so still looking!
