 Hmm, I thought we were talking about bagels with cream cheese.

If you want to share recipes using cream cheese, why not visit our Recipe Swap (http://www.momsmenu.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15) section?

That honey walnut cream cheese combo sounds really good for a sweeter bagel. I'll have to try that. Normally I choose a savory bagel.

I doubt I would need a recipe planner to decide what flavor of cream cheese that I want on my bagel. I also doubt I would put cheesecake on my bagel either.

Barb, I am a savory kind of girl. I have never had a savory girl. I will have to try a savory bagel sometime. I wonder about making a pizza topping for a bagel with cream cheese? I wonder about mixing a little tomato paste, basil, and so on, in the cream cheese and spread it on the bagel? That would be a cool idea. There are very few places in West Texas that offer bagels though.

We make pizza bagels. We use regular water bagels (toasted), then put on tomato sauce (no cream cheese) we add cheese and whatever else you'd normally put on pizza. We then broil them. We toast them as we don't want soft dough, we want the dough a bit more cooked.

Sounds like what we do with English Muffins; no end to how different we all do things! LOL

Pizza bagels are really good! They make a great lunch or light dinner.

We also make them on english muffins. Just like the bagels, we toast them first, then add the sauce and toppings.

If you have refigerated biscuit dough, you can roll it out thin and place sauce and cheese/toppings on that too.

Anyone here try the 1/3 less fat cream cheese on their bagels yet? I find that the strawberry flavor is my favorite.

I only use fat free cream cheese, so that limits "flavors" for us as I haven't found any excpet just plain that is fat free.

I haven't tried it on bagels, but I have tried it on other things and have not found it to be near the same flavor and texture as the regular cream cheese. I have decided to forgo the bad fat in other areas besides the cream cheese.

Cat, did it take you awhile to get used to the fat free cream cheese? I just can not stomach it for some reason. I will deal with the low fat cheddar cheese, if need be, but the cream cheese seems to have a whole different life once the fat is removed or reduced.

I don't eat reduced fat cheeses. I'd rather eat less of the full-fat version.

Cat lover, have you ever tried making your own flavored cream cheese?

Hi MrChefsters and welcome to MomsMenu.com. I see that you are a fan of flavored cream cheese. My family has found that we don't really care for them, just flavored bagels LOL

My family actually prefers low fat whipped cream cheese :)

Cindy, they make whipped cream cheese? I will have to look for it next time I go to the store. It sounds easy to use.

I can not eat the store bought lower fat cream cheeses. I've tried. However we do have a bagel shop here that sells lower fat whipped flavored cream cheeses. They are good. Not wonderful, but good. I can be happy with them. Of course because they are from a bagel shop, they cost a fortune, but we buy them from time to time.

I hear ya on them "costing a fortune"! There are times when I pay more for the cream cheese than a dozen bagels

DeBora, whipped cream cheese is great! I think it's also a good way to "cheat" your way into eating lower fat because even if you eat the full-fat kind, it's whipped with air so you can go farther with less cheese.

This is my kids' favorite kind of cream cheese for their bagels. It's always easy to spread.

Not all brands are created equally. Trader Joe's makes a whipped low fat cream cheese and it's horrible!!! So, if you find you don't like one, definitely try another brand.

I wish I could find a whipped fat free, all I have seen is the low fat ones that won't work for DH's restrictions. He won't eat cream cheese anyway so for him any fat free works because it is an item in the ingredients when I make something for him.

I have tried the store brands of the regular cream cheese and it was good. But, I have never tried the whipped type.

I have tried the Philadelphia 1/3 less fat cream cheese and I found it to be gross and nasty.

I to run to the store today so I will try to remember to pick up one of those whipped kinds everyone is talking about. A crusty bagel sounds good.

I have not found much difference between store brand and name brand cream cheese when fat content is equal. My kids like the store brand whipped cream cheese.

I uusally buy the store brand fat free, much easier on the grocery budget! Guess I'll have to try and "flavor" some of the fat free ones myself and see what I come up with.

To many calories in a bagel and they are expensive so I rather have a chocolate bar LOL
English muffins are used a great deal in our house, the fruit ones are really yummy with jam and whipped cream
