I generally buy a bottom round roast to make a pot roast. It works well with that kind of cooking method. However, last week I found that top round roasts were better-priced than bottom round. I'm wondering if I can use this cut in pot roast or if I should choose a different way of cooking this meat.

While you can use a cut from the round to make pot roast, chuck is a much better choice. More flavor, more tender, and more unctuous.

See my article here on MomsMenu about Chuck complete with my recipe for pot roast:

However, if you MUST use round, top round is definitely more tender than bottom round.

Thanks, Chef Mark!

I will try roasting the round roasts I have, as a roast beef, instead of a pot roast this time.

I had no idea--I've been making pot roast out of bottom round for years!

Next time I find a chuck roast at a good price I'll try your recipe :)
