I have a ham bone left from today's ham but cooking it with beans is not an option because my family won't eat beans.
Any suggestions on what I could do with it other than cooking with beans?
Thanks! :)

You can use it to flavor soups of any kind. Also, what about flavoring the water that you will be boiling your pasta in before you make a lasagna or casserole? You could also use it to flavor your chicken and dumplings.

Pea soup is a great way to use a ham bone.

You could flavor any type of greens with it; kale, collards, or mustard greens come to mind.
Sauerkraut soup
1/2 lb Polish sausage, well browned and sliced (or you can leave them out and use the HAM BONE as your flavoring
2 to 4 cups sauerkraut including the juice
Chicken broth, 2 or 3 cans ready to use
1 large onion, chopped into large chunks
2 celery ribs, chopped coarsely
2 carrots, chopped coarsely
4 potatoes, cut up coarsely(I wash them well and leave the peels on)
Pepper,to taste
Thyme, to taste
Saute the sausages . Set aside. Cook the onions, celery and carrots in some fat from the sausages. Pour off most of the fat. Add the sauerkraut and the ham bone, if using.Add the stock, sausages, potatoes, thyme and pepper and cook until the potatoes are done. If using a slow cooker, make sure to get all the browning out of the fry pan by cooking it off with some of the stock and scraping while it boils. This is a very flexible recipe--You can leave it light on the stock and it's a like a thin stew, or you can add more stock....you can thicken it with a mixture of flour mixed in water, or leave it thin. Without my the smoked sausage, you can add a drop of liquid smoke, or sesame oil. I've also used leftover pork roast in this. I've added some chopped cabbage, or leftover brussels sprouts, or even a couple of tomatoes.

I hate to admit it but I ended up throwing out the bone. These recipes all sound good to me but my family wouldn't eat any of them. :o :o
Thanks for the suggestions, though!! ;)

Ohhhh, wish I lived close enough to have taken that off your hands! LOL No use cooking something if no one will eat it! LOL Even my dogs would have had a treat after I was done with it! LOL
