Pretzel Gelatin Dessert

Bottom Layer:
3 c. thin pretzel sticks, crumbled
3/4 c. butter, melted
3 tbsp. sugar

Mix the bottom layer ingredients and press into a 9x13" pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. Cool.

Second Layer:
8 oz. pkg cream cheese
9 oz. cool whip
1 c. sugar

Blend cream cheese and sugar together. Fold in Cool Whip. Spread over cooled pretzel mixture.

Top Layer:
6 oz. pkg. strawberry flavored gelatin
2 c. boiling water
2 (10 oz) pkgs. frozen strawberries

Combine top layer ingredients and let stand for 10 minutes. Then pour over the second layer. Chill for 6 hours before serving.

I must say that this is an interesting dessert. I haven't ever seen one quite like it. Thanks for sharing.

This dessert is soooo good! I know it as Strawberry Pretzel Salad. It sounds weird but it is good!! :D

My SIL always makes this and brings it to gatherings, it is soooo gooood!! Ajrsmom, that is the same name I know it by also!

It's surprising I know, but you never taste the salt at all. It is a great recipe for buffets and potlucks and can serve as dessert and/or a side dish(salad).

Oh, I like those salt-sweet combinations, in which you can taste the salt. It's like a bit of salt then a bit of sweet. (Like chocolate covered pretzels.)

Here is what it looks like. I've always made mine in a 9x13 dish but this round one is pretty, too. :D

I want some of this so bad right now!! :p :p

Same here, but I like the way it looks in a the round dish, why I never thought of that I don't know, but would surprise lots of people, that is the only way they have probably seen it also! LOL

You can also make it with pretzels that are salt-free.
