I have a traditional American glazed carrot recipe. I know its not exactly what you're asking for but you're welcome to it:
1 1/2 lb. carrots
1 cup water
2 Tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tabsp. chopped parsley
Cut carrots into rounds, place in pan with water, butter, sugar and salt. Bring to a boil, partially cover and continue to boil until almost soft. Uncover and reduce liquid to syrupy glaze. Finish with parsley.

Could this be like one you are looking for?
Glazed Carrots with Orange and Ginger
1 pound carrots, trimmed and peeled if necessary, cut into coins or sticks
2 tbsp butter or extra virgin olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tbsp minced or grated peeled fresh ginger
1/3 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
Chopped fresh parsley, dill, mint, basil or chervil leaves for garnish (optional)
Combine all ingredients except lemon juice and garnish in a saucepan no more than 6 inches across. Bring to a boil, then cover and adjust heat so mixture simmers. Cook, more or less undisturbed, until carrots are tender and liquid is almost gone, 10 to 20 minutes. Uncover and boil off remaining liquid, then add lemon juice. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot or within an hour or two, garnished with herbs, if you like. Makes 4 servings

We used to do glazed carrots at school home economics in the '80s sounded much like Marks recipe up there, wow the school did know what they were talking about LOL
My candied carrots as the kids call them aren't Japanese. I place the carrots in a baking dish, top with a littel butter and depending on the size of the dish, add a bottle of pancake syrup. You have never seen kids go for cooked carrots the way mine do when I make these. We've even made sweet potatoes this way.
