2 lbs gumdrops, cut into small pieces(do not use black ones)
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
2 beaten eggs
1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp salt
1 lb. raisins
2 cups nuts
1 tsp soda (dissolved in 1 tsp hot water)
4 cups sifted flour
Cream sugar and butter. Add beaten eggs. Sift dry ingredients together. Sprinkle a little of the flour mixture over nuts, gumdrops, and raisins. Add flour alternately with applesauce. Add soda and water last. Bake ina tube pan OR 2 large loaf pans. Bake about 2 hours at 325 degrees. Ice with your favorite icing.
