One Wednesday is over, I will start planning my Christmas menu. What is everyone else planning?

I am definitely going to serve Turkey because I didn't get to make one on Thanksgiving!

Hmmm it will probably be just DH and me so I'm thinking chili and potato salad. But if DS ends up surprising us like he did for Thanksgiving I'll expand the menu a bit. Then I'll add some beef barley soup and another type of potato salad and more desserts! And possibly a veggie tray ( depending on the weather of us getting out; but then if it is like that they won't be here either)

We are having lasagna, salad and warm Italian bread. I might make a pumpkin pie for dessert and we will also have cookies here. :D

We will have the family over on Jan 12 - first Saturday following Nativity on Jan 7. So I have a bit of time to start planning, as yet! BUT, I know we will have either a Honey-Baked Ham OR the Ol' Curmudgeon will get "inspired" and make Beef Wellington. I'll ask:
godson to bring garlic-cheese mashed potatoes;
daughter to bring 2 pies
DS#1 to bring his famous green-bean casserole
DS#2 to bring another veggie
SIL to bring her famous Squash Casserole
Aunt to bring an appetizer from her favorite Cajun Restaurant
Other SIL to bring deviled eggs

I will make:
- Brussels Sprouts with Chestnuts
- Charlotte Russe
- EggNog (alcoholic, of course!) (well, I'll have the ingredients on hand and one of the kids will be requested to make it)
- Plum Pudding (actually, "boughten," so it's easy) and hard sauce (alcoholic)

Not exactly "balanced" nutrition, and it's a "cholesterol heaven" meal, but, hey! It's a BIG family get-together!!

I'm serving buffet style, and people can sit where they wish. SILs, and Aunt and Uncle will have places at tables to eat (all handicapped one way or another). Presents will be: The Ol' Curmudgeon's bread for the adults, and $10 in little "gift tins" for each kid. Can't keep track of who likes what, so I'm doing the "easy" thing from now on!

Besides, Christmas is about the Incarnation of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ - not who can outdo whom in the gift department!!

Cheerio!
Elizabeth

Wow ewriggs, can I drop in for dinner? I'll bring a dish! Your dinner really sounds delicious! Have fun and hey, it's only one meal so maybe the "cholesterol heaven" won't hurt too much! LOL

Not really sure yet.lasagna sounds good as does the beef. We are not tradition bound on Christmas Eves as it is just the immediate family, my 3, dsil and dgd. One year we did appetives, another we ordered pizza. This year we are leaning toward a nice dinner after church. When it is my turn to do Christmas we usaully have boneless pork roast or bone in ham.
