What little goodies do you leave out for Santa? This is a multiple choice poll!

When my children were growing up, we left Santa a tall glass of cold eggnog (non-alcoholic) and some cookies that the children decorated.

We make our Christmas cookies a few days before Christmas (so there are still some left for Santa). The day we make the cookies I let the kids make a Santa plate. I cover it in saran wrap and put it on our covered back porch so the cookies stay cool and fresh. Then on Christmas Eve we put it on the table with some milk.

Usually we don't feed the reindeer but Luke just came home from school with a bag of "reindeer food" that the kids made in kindergarten today. So I guess we will feed the reindeer this year!

Hello all, when the children were young as well as the grands we left milk and cookies. What a nice idea Luke's class has, around here plenty of deer to feed maybe not reindeer but deer.

The children and I leave out a plate with 2 cookies (1 from each of the children) and some carrots and celery and sometimes cut up apple for Santa. We have a rule in our house that if you want a cookie you also have to have a healthy food item with it (usually the children will pick carrots). For a drink we leave a thermos cup with hot cocoa.

We also leave carrots for the reindeer.

We used to leave milk and cookies but 2 yrs. ago Andy asked if we could leave Santa a can of pop because he knew that Santa had to get tired of drinking milk at every house. ;)

We always feed the reindeer with both the reindeer food that Andy has brought home from school and carrots. :)

Have ya'll seen the Betty Crocker commercials for those easy, make within 20 minutes, cookies? A little boy awakens on Christmas Eve and sees his father eating Santa's cookies that he set out! The boy screams and begs his dad to make more in hurry before Santa comes and has no cookies! It is very cute!

We used to leave out cookies and milk when the boys were little. A pet store near our home had boxes of reindeer food that we bought every year and sprinkled on the lawn for the reindeer to come down from the roof and eat. It was always gone. Evidently some possuums enjoyed it ! LOL

We don't have Santa - we celebrate St. Nicholas Day on Dec 6 / 19 (the 19th is actually Old Calendar Dec 6 - there is currently a 13 day slippage). When the children were young, on the night of the 5th, they would each put out ONE shoe with some carrots - with the green tops still on them - for St. Nicholas' horse. In turn, he would leave a little bag of gold foil covered chocolate coins for each child. They would open them and we'd talk about St. Nicholas leaving a small bag of gold coins for each of 3 sisters who were about to be sold into slavery because they had no dowry to marry. We would talk about the customs of different cultures and times and how they change, but how the virtues of generosity and almsgiving never change. I think it "took" fairly well with the oldest. The other two, well, they are "works in progress," but they are young yet (36 and 39!) LOL!!!

Cheerio!

DeBora, I love that commercial!

When I was little we left out milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer and we still do that with my dks even though I am sure they think their dad eats the cookies.

Does anyonego to the NORAD website on their computers on Christmas eve? You can track Santa's progress all over the world. It always works to get my dks to bed when they see he is in the US headed towards New England.

A couple of biscuits/ cookies and the kids would write a note to say choose a drink from the frig, it's to hot to leave drinks out at night and we didn't want it to spoil LOL
