I purchased some nice 9" by 13" pyrex casserole dishes that include a basket server. I want to give them as gifts and am looking for ideas for items to put into the dish. Preferably, I would like suiggestions for "dry" ingredient recipes that would allow for putting the packaged ingredients into the dish and including the recipe as part of the gift.

Gather some recipes you know the person or persons would like and just put all the dry ingrediens in it along with the recipe and maybe serving utensils. Some suggestions would be lasagna; you could so the noodles, sauce, spices and anything else your particualr recipe calls for. You could do any main dish or you could do a crisp such as apple crisp and you would put the canned apple pie filling in it. You could also buy a prepackaged topping for a crisp and include that. Or sweet potato casserole; you'd do the canned sweet potatoes, bag of marshmallows, spices, small bag of pecans for the topping and anything else in your recipe. This is really an endless gift; just take some time to go through your recipes. Or if you'd prefer let me know what type of recipes you'd like to do and I'll post some for you here. Good Luck!

Law, that is an excellent idea!!!

I like Cat's idea of putting some recipes in the casserole dish along with some utensils. You could even get one of those little recipe card holders and fill it with recipes. Then, add some cute utensils such as large spoons, a spider, tongs, and so on.

I have a recipe for chicken and dressing casserole that has 4 ingredients and only one of them requires refrigeration. It requires a can of chicken, a box of Stove Top type dressing, a can of cream of chicken soup, and a stick of butter. It is cooked in the microwave.

Love this idea! With a recipe box full of new ideas for dinners and desserts, serving spoons and maybe even new oven mitts. ;)
