I would like to know what's the difference between Jasmine Rice and regular rice?

We just had jasmine rice for dinner tonight.
It is a fragrant white rice. The texture is a little "stickier" than regular long-grain rice. (I prepare it in my rice cooker the same way I do white rice, using the same rice-to-water ratio with the measure provided by the rice cooker).
I don't think it has a different taste than white rice. It goes with anything you'd make white rice with. I've used leftovers in fried rice, rice pudding and breakfast rice.
The stickier texture is nice if you have small children since they can eat the rice in "clumps" and you find fewer grains all over the floor later :D

Barbszy said it all, I haven't noticed any different taste between the two. The only difference is the jasmine rice seems to have a floral nutty smell to it as you open the lid as it finishes cooking; of course I'm just talking about the plain rice cooking; no additives.

LOL cat lover. I never flavor my rice--not even oil or butter. I just cook it plain and basic. Every once in a while I serve a box pilaf or long grain & wild rice, and everyone looks at me like "where's the REAL rice?"
I could get along just fine with only jasmine rice in my kitchen and no other kind. I do like brown rice once in a while but my family would be happy just to eat the jasmine rice.
Jasmine rice is more pricey than regular rice. I have found that the best buy on it is in warehouse clubs where you can get a 25-lb sack of it. Otherwise, try an Asian grocery if you have access to one. In either of those places you can get it for under 50 cents a pound, but in a regular supermarket it's 4 times that price! I buy it in a big sack, split it with my neighbor, and we keep it in pretzel bins with tight-fitting lids.

Jasmine rice comes from Thailand and is more aromatic than standard white long grain rice. It is similar to Basmati but much less expensive.
