Since Halloween is quickly approaching, I thought it would be fun to post our favorite retro candy. What do you remember eating as a child? Share it here. This is a multiple choice poll.
I chose candy cigarettes, bottle caps and razzles. Although I like just about all of them. I bought the candy cigarettes, now known as candy sticks, for part of my candy to hand out.
Here's some candy corn for y'all.

I did NOT know they still sold candy "cigarettes" as sticks. Cool. I chose wax lips, bit-o-honey, and the candy necklaces. I also chose other because I also liked the clove gum and those chocolate covered marshmallow cream type cups.

I like the Bit-O-Honey because as a kid I couldn't eat chocolate for many years ( making up for it now) LOL and other.... anyone else remember the old fashioned peanut candy melts? Haven't seen those for years!

My DH is the one who thought of Sugar Babies. I guess that is his fave! lol
There are websites that sell all those nostalgic candies.
Here's a link to one of them: http://www.oldtimecandy.com/

Donna, I have dealt with a retro candy company when I had a Secret Sister in FC and had a theft steal all all my info from their Web site. So, I don't order from online candy companies anymore.
I haven't ordered from this site, mostly had fun looking and reminiscing. People can post their memories of having a particular candy. It's fun looking at the memories.
Plus I have an addon for mozilla that verifies site ID's and tells me if a site is hiding it's identity. That site comes up verified plus it's certified by the Better Business Bureau Online and scanalert.com.
But like I said, it's great for the memories.

Donna, is there a BBB online? That is cool to know. I used a retro candy company online when I had a SS on FC. The company was good and had good security. I don't know what happened, but the company was good about informing me once their site was broken by a hacker. I had to cancel my credit card and everything. I canceled before anyone had a chance to use my CC info.

Donna, I would love to know about the Mozilla add-on. Every extra bit of safety helps!

hi, don't post a lot, but had a couple of comments.
my favs are mary janes and chick o sticks.
and for internet security when shopping online, i use the paypal virtual debit card. it generates a one time use credit card number for you when you shop, and it authorizes for the amount you approve, then can't be used again.
Here's a link to the home page:

Here's the Mozilla link to the software:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3421
Once the software is loaded, all you do is rest your mouse over a link and it pops up with your answer.

Redskins and milkos, they were 2c each when I was a kid. They were a 3inch stick that was wrapped and they were chewy, redskins were raspberry and milkos were vanilla.
Another fave was White knights, they were mint chewy coated in choc and 10cents each, about 3 1/2 inches long inch wide and yummy!

I picked a lot from the list but then thought of others, too. I used to love the wax bottles with the flavored liquid inside of them.
DeBora, Were you talking about Mallo Cups? I still love them!!
We also at tons of the little sugar dots on the strips of paper. Also, the flying saucers that tasted like styrofoam (lol) that had tiny candy beads inside them.
And another favorite....Swedish Fish!! Yum!!

Yes! I couldn't remember what they were called. But, I notice that they make them differently than they did when I was a little girl.
Nothing tastes the same as it did when I was a kid. :(

Anybody remember the little brown sacks you could go to the corner store growing up and getting full of all this candy from the money you got from gathering soda bottles and turning them in for money? That is how as a kid me and all my friends would get our "candy money"!
