Do you consume foods or other things in order to gain health or prevent illnesses? You are allowed to choose more than one answer! What have I left out?

Sorry for the b2b. I choose all of them. I had DH order some silver so that I can make my seasonal batches of silver to drink before I catch all the viruses that are going around.

DeBora, I added "none" to your poll. I don't use any of these or any other foods specifically as a health supplement.
Of course, I love chocolate, but I don't eat it for medicinal purposes. :D Though that might be a good excuse :D

Barb, thanks. I hadn't even thought that people wouldn't add something consumable to their diet for health reasons.
Last night, I made myself a salad and recently, I brought grape tomatoes and snow peas to munch on at lunch because I haven't been eating right. I know tomatoes are an antioxidant and snow peas not only help digest food, but they add vital nutrients to the body.

:) That was an interesting poll. I don't use any of the things mentioned.
I use cayenne pepper mixed with water (or tomato juice for beginners) at the first sign of sniffles or whatever. It also works good to get rid of coughs and helps you get rid of muccus. Yes, it is very hot but the benefits make it worth it. My theory is that the germs figure that it is too hot to stick around....:p :p
If I need a stronger remedy, I use cayenne pepper, powdered Vitamin C (it is more concentrated than pills) and a drop or two of Tea Tree Oil mixed in water or juice.
I was given this mixture by a co-worker because I had a really bad cough. If I didn't have a cough drop in my mouth, I was coughing. It stopped my cough. I became a believer. Interestingly, at the time I still had my bad habit of smoking and if I went outside to smoke it counteracted the potion I had taken. So I had to drink it again.
To me, it was an amazing discovery. That was 15 years ago and I still use my cayenne. I haven't had a cold or cough since I started using it.
Anyway it works for me......Colleen
