Here is a play dough you can eat!
In a medium bowl combine 2 cups peanut butter, 2 cups powdered milk, and 3 tbsp honey. If too sticky, add more powdered milk, one tbsp. at a time. If desired, add chopped nuts or raisins!

This sounds like fun! I am on the lookout for things to do with my kids this summer. We are moving to an apartment complex (dreading it) so we wont have much of a yard for them to play in. I can hear it now all summer long "Mom, what am I supposed to do?!?!"

Thanks for sharing catlover!!!

I think I still have a file downstairs that has more of those type of craft ideas from back when I used to keep a lot of the neighborhood kids after school. I'll see if I can locate it and post some more ideas here.

I copied this recipe and plan on using it this summer with my grandchildren--especially the DGD who is old enough to play with playdough! Thanks!

Okay, I'm still looking for that folder; I KNOW I have more of these somewhere! Is there anyone out there that works in a day care that might have some tips on this?

That is the same recipe that I have. A million years ago when I had a daycare, we made ours with mostly salt. It tasted terrible, but it wasn't poisonous. Here's the recipe I used to make:
Homemade playdough
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
2 T cream of tartar
2 Tsp food coloring
1 T vegetable oil
1 cup water
Mix the flour, salt, and cream of tarter in a medium pot. Add water, food coloring, and oil. Stir over medium heat for several minutes until it forms a ball. It will look lumpy at first. Let cool. Knead it well on flour surface and place in a Ziploc container. Keep refrigerated.

I've made both the pb playdough and the recipe as well. The pb playdough recipe I have called it peanut butter balls, but my girls love it. Sometimes I even throw in chocolate chips or m&m's :D . They have a thrill making those although I think most of it gets eaten.
The other playdough recipe is the best one I've used. I don't like the smell of store bought playdough so I make my own. My neighbors think I'm nuts but atleast it doesn't stink, and it's much cheaper.

I always made it apart of the "fun" to make your own! The kids seemed to have fun thinking it was so different than everybody else's!

I still haven't found that folder, but I'll still look! Maybe someone else will come up with some ideas in the meantime!
