Halloween is coming up this month. Do you bake anything special? If so, what do you bake? Do you leave your name and address for the parents?

Oooops, I didn't know that the question was about the treats to give out... I marked that I bake something because my daughter found some
Halloween recipes so that we can have a themed dinner that night. :)
The treats to give out are store bought candy.

Katherina, whatever you bake and want to discuss is fine! That is cool that you make a themed dinner!

I don't celebrate Halloween, but if I did, there are plenty of ideas for themed meals.

I remember once my mother peeled the skin off grapes for a haunted house to represent eyeballs! lol There is so much to do with food during this holiday that you wouldn't ordinarily do. lol

We don't celebrate Halloween. Even when I was a kid we didn't celebrate. It's just never been anything I was interested in.

Halloween is a big in my neighborhood... I must get over 200 Trick-or-treaters .. so I buy bulk candy (and raisins for the little ones. ) We set up a fog machine in front of the house, carved jack-o-lanterns with battery "candles" and decorate with haybales and corn stalks etc. We do more of a harvest theme than a scary or goulish thing.. but you will find fake spider webs on my porch...

Halloween was always the biggest holiday we celebrated when the boys lived at home. Our front yard was decked out as a graveyard and even had "Jason" standing behind some trees. All the boys friends always came by and after they had their own families they brought their kids by the house. We had a very large amount of kids always come by.

Now that we live in the woods we don't have any trick or treaters; our house is way up a hill and way back in the woods so we don't even decorate now a days!

We are going to a Halloween party my DS#2 and his wife are having so I will pick up some Halloween foods at the local grocery when we get there. I'm also taking the ingredients for

Harvest Moon Punch

2 6 oz cans frozen lemonade concentrate
2 quarts apple juice
2 quarts ginger ale
2 cups orange juice

Combine and chill. Pour over ice cubes in tall cubes. Float a lemon slice in each glass.

No raisins here! I buy candy and also keep a bucket of pretzel packs for the little munchkins. We usually get about 80 kids here.

My younger kids are not permitted to have any candy in their lunchboxes at the school they attend now. I used to let them put one small piece in their lunchbox after Halloween. So they are happy when they get bags of chips or pretzels or cookies. This way they can still have a lunchbox treat.

Almost as fun as Trick or Treat for my kids is the Great Sorting Ritual that follows. Everyone dumps their bags of candy in a certain spot on the living room floor. Then they sort things out, trade, and "donate" some to me. I get the stuff they don't like! LOL! Last year I put out a bowl and attached a sign: "Donations for the Feed Mom Candy and Continue to Receive Hot Meals and Clean Laundry Fund."
