Whole grain breads and fat loss, yes or no?
I have several bread machine recipes that I can use in relation to my type II diabetes. With my lifting and fat loss goals, I want to be sure.
I have gotten the impression there are several here against bread, but for whole grain. I’m confused. How 'bout whole grain as bread.

Mittuberr, welcome to MM. If you get a change, stop in at the Welcome (http://www.momsmenu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=252&goto=newpost) thread so everyone can meet you!

I'll be 44 in August. I am not sure about the fat loss with whole grain bread of if eating more fiber leaves you too full to eat more fat. However, I only eat whole grain bread as I think the bleached stripped bread is unnatural and unhealthy for people. jmo

Mittuberru,

Whole grain is definitely better than classic processed bread but diabetics do need to watch the carbohydrates. It also depends on what type of diabetic medication you are on. It would be best to ask your doctor, especially if you are on insulin. I've typed reports on diabetics who are on insulin by injection and also some on insulin pumps and they absolutely have to carbohydrate count and then balance it with their insulin. I also have a friend who is diabetic, not on insulin, eats pizza all the time and says her sugars are always fine.

I switched to whole grain breads a few years ago and really like them. I don't really like whole grain wheat bread but love whole grain oatmeal bread. I recently tried the new whole grain white breads that came out on the market and my kids actually like them. I am not sure if whole grain breads help with weight loss but I do know they are a healthier choice. For diabetics, perhaps they would be a better choice in moderation as they are still carbs.
