2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
2 cups buttermilk
1/4 cup melted shortening
2 egg yolks, well beaten
1 1/2 cups cooked ,shredded ham
2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Stir flour once, measure, add baking soda, salt and sugar and then sift again. COmbine milk, shortening and egg yolks. Add to flour mixture stirring only enough to mix. Add ham. FOld in egg whites and bake on hot waffle iron. Serve with butter and syrup. Makes six 4 section waffles
