I live in a small city that only publishes a local paper twice a week and then it may only be 4 pages long. Anyway there are never any cents off coupon inserts in it although there are furniture store ones, and a fast food paper (even though you have to drive 30 miles one way to even get to a fast food place). I print some off the internent, but there just isn't a lot available or I haven't find the places to go! I even call some companies and they send a few through the mail maybe one time and then that ends. Does anyone here know of other sites or places to get them? Several of the groceries up our way won't even take the internet coupons! We only have one grocery locally and then it is off to driving 30 miles again one way to get to only one other one! So saving with cents off coupons would really be nice when we go into the big cities where you have at least several different groceries to shop at. I would like to have full use of bunches of coupons to do so. Help!

Hi Cat Lover,

I live in an area with a small amount of coupons too..but one thing I learned, if you go to the online site..say Centrum Vitamins, and ask a question...or call the 800 number for I had a question about their vitamins...in a few weeks I got coupons in my mailbox...

So now I look on the back of all products I buy and if there is a website..I go and look for coupons..

Now to cut corners...I have been shopping our local grocery..and trying their store brands..IGA..and you know..I am saving alot of money..and no one in my house has complained...

I dont know of any stores right around us that still takes Internet coupons either. What a bummer!

I have done the same thing with products and their 800 numbers. They will usually send you coupons for both good and bad reviews. Its quicker to call and talk to someone but you can email most place too.

I'm not a regular name brand buyer at all, we have always used mostly store brands. I like to try new items though and with some coupons and waiting until the item is on sale I usually pay less for it than the store brand. I'm really into saving at the grocery! Some groceries still double a coupon up to 50 cents so getting a dollar off one item I love!!! Years ago in the neighborhood I used to live in we had a coupon club. We met once a week and everybody brought all their coupons they couldn't use and we traded. We didn't do it on a fair dollar amount we just all took anything we could use. Back then I remember having 5 or 6 coupons and buying 5 or 6 of that item, using a coupon for each one and with doubleing it I almost got the items free! Most places now though will only let you buy one item and use one coupon so buying 5 or 6 with 5 or 6 coupons can't happen any more. ugh!

Hi Friends,

Do you have the chain "Save a Lot Grocery stores" they have nice and inexpensive groceries. I buy all of our can vegetables, can fruits, fresh fruits etc. there. (Can vegetables for 33 cents a can) very good!

My oldest brother owns 3 of those stores and they are very nice.

Hope you go and check them out as they are inexpensive and has saved us tons of $$$.

We have three in three towns three different directions from us. So we shop at them whenever we are in those towns. Two of them are 60 mile round trips and one is a 34 mil round trip. I usually stock up canned goods from them getting close to winter. We are snowed and iced in here a couple of times in the winter for 2-3 weeks at a time so we really prepare! During the summer we mainly eat out of the garden.

I am lucky to live in a big city and our Sunday paper has from 1 - 3 inserts with coupons. Two stores double the coupons and occasionally triple. Our Meijer has even started doubling up to 99 cents. They will only allow two of the same coupons. For now they will not take internet coupons but hopefully will in the future (according to one of the clerks).

As Janet and Ajrsmom suggest call the companies or check out the websites and request the coupons. Kraft sends out a magazine and it has coupons in it. There is also a newer magazine out (can't remember the name) and it has a lot of coupons in it.

I subscribe to any magazines that are free and yes some of them have coupons in it! I also subscribe to a stack full of other magazines, but the regular ones (redbook, good housekeeping, etc) don't seem to put coupons in them like they used to do.

On occasion when we are back in Loiuisville I can get some old newspapers from some people that don't clip coupons so as long as I get them early enough some are still good. I also have a lady that lives somewhat close that saves her papers for me (we use the b&w for starting fires in the woodstove in the winter) so on occasion there will be some in those too.

They sure don't hardly use the "no expiration date" on them any longer; I still have a drawer full of those that I still use when needed.

A pet peeve of mine is the 30-45 day expiration date on coupons.

I had 6) Sara Lee pie/cheesecake coupons that I was able to use a day before they expired the store was having a 50% off sale so they cost me $.99-1.49 each.

Do you have family or friends that could send you coupons that you would use that they don't? I subscribe to the "big city" Sunday paper (30 miles away) for the coupons that come in it. I'm lucky as our towns paper also puts coupons in the Saturday paper now, otherwise I would probably woulnd not have renewed it. Started taking the paper when DH was job hunting and knew he wouldn't go to the library to look at the want ads.

Nope, only the kids and they struggle to get them themselves! I was going to continue my big city newspaper subscribtion when we moved , but I could only get it my mail. They told me it would probably be three to four days old by the time I got it in the mail. And no inserts because it would be going by mail! We live far enough out that our mail takes an extra day in and out also. It all goes to the big city every afternoon and then goes to the address. So even if I mail something to 15 miles away it goes 60 miles and them comes back this way; no wonder the post office is in the shape it is! So no solution yet, but thanks!

cat lover, Hi! I'd be happy to send you coupons. We get 2-3 of the coupon inserts in every Sunday paper. Most I never use. In exchange for 1 business envelope of coupons I'd like to receive 2 first-class postage stamps(I'm a sweepstaker). PM me if interested.

I've been very lucky--I live in a small town, but we have a large newspaper that usually has 2 or 3 coupon inserts each week. I'm an avid clipper, and I'm getting much better at matching coupons to sale prices to get some good deals. I still have lots to learn though--I know there are lots of folks out there who do a phemomenal job and pay less than half for their total grocery bill every week using coupons and sales. I haven't reached that point yet, but maybe someday!

Years ago one of the grocery store chains used to have a bin in the front of the store that everyone put their coupons they couldn't use and then you took what you could use. That would help people now a days, but you don't see that any more. Maybe in some of the smaller chain stores they would be willing to do that. I know some of them are suffering at the hands of the "biggies" and they may be willing to do anything they can to help the customer and draw them into their stores!

Hello All,
I am new to this site. It looks very interesting. I have been reading your posts, and it seems that everyone wants more coupons!!! Is there any trading here? If not, maybe we can start a train for trading coupons? I would be very happy to.
I have been married for 16+ years and have 1 boy, 7 yrs old. I have been couponing for about 8 months now and I am soooooooo addicted.
Take care and let me know about the trading.
Adrienne:)

Rjemom, it's good to see you here at MM. Be sure to visit the Welcome thread (http://www.momsmenu.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4096#post4096) and introduce yourself. Also, you might want to visit the Topic Ideas (http://www.momsmenu.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4098#post4098) thread and post this idea. It sounds like an excellant one to me. I imagine if the idea is approved, there would be a post minimum in order to join the swap just like at FC.

I look forward to seeing you around.
