I'm actually sad about Father's Day this year. The kiddos are going to be visting with their bio-dad which leaves my husband, their stepfather who is actually the one who is "dad" to them, alone without kids on Father's Day. :(

Happy, maybe you could spoil your DH that day so that he feels special. Sorry about your situation.

If my Dh is lucky, he will get a good, home-cooked meal. Right now, he can either cook for himself or share the kitten's food. :p

happy2bg33k, Why not celebrate Father's Day at your house when the kids are back home? This celebration can really be done on any day just to let Dad know how special he really is! I'm sure your husband would appreciate it. Catch him off guard and really surprise him. ;)

I hadn't voted until now because I didn't know what DH wanted. He or I will grill rib-eyes, DH's fave for Father's Day.

My kids will all come over and we will bbq outside probably sausage. I'm not sure whose favorite it is but that what we always have.

Kathy, I didn't realize that your Father's Day was on a different day than ours.

This year is going to be especially "special" to DH. My DD's bio dad's attorney sent me a letter stating that bio dad wanted to sign off his rights and let my DH adopt my daughter. DH is more dad to her, she calls him dad, she calls her bio dad by his first name and hasn't seen him since Oct. I am going to help DD make him something special of her choice to give to her "real" dad, (my DH).

We usually cook Dad's favorite meal and spend the whole day together doing things as a family. This year will be a little different because my oldest son's baseball team is having a picnic for the boys on his team.

Hehe Thank you for the smile this morning. I hear that the new Fancy Feast Elegant Medleys are pretty good. ;)

We'll be doing the "favorite meal" thing on Sunday most likely, I'm just not sure what that will be yet... I'll have to ask.

How about a nice grilled steak?

Grilled Steaks with Cheddar Onion Butter

CHEDDAR ONION BUTTER

1/2 stick butter, softened
1/4 cup sliced green onions
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese

STEAKS
4 beef sirloin OR T-bone steaks, 1" thick
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp coarse grind black pepper

Heat grill, In a small bowl combine all butter ingredients and mix well. Set aside. When ready to grill put steaks on gas grill over medium heat or charcoal grill 4 to 6" from medium coals. Cook 10 to 15 minutes or till desired doneness turning once. During last minute of cooking sprinkle with salt and pepper and top each with 1/4 of the Cheddar onion mix. Thtse can be broiled also instead of grilled

Fix some foil wrapped potatoes to cook on the grill, dad's favorite veggie and some brownies for dessert
