BBQ ham steaks with glazed apples
6 ham steaks
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
2 red apples, cored and sliced
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons golden syrup (bit more refined than molasses, could use in a pinch?)
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1/2 cup apple juice
1 tablespoon brandy (optional)
Heat butter in pan and add apple slices, cooking quickly until lightly browned, remove from pan.
Add sugar, syrup and lemon juice to remaining butter in pan, stir without boiling until sugar is dissolved.
Add lemon rind, apple juice and brandy, boil few minutes or until sauce is thick.
BBQ hamsteaks until heated through, plate, and top with apple slices, then the hot sauce.
