Tami, thanks. I can get pretty creative when my brain isn't full! lol

I think Emeril is my absolute favorite. I also like Alton Brown, Giada, and Paula Deen. But, I don't dislike any of them.

Thanks for the multiple choice! I'd have a hard time if I couldn't pick 3.

I like Paula Deen, Rachael Ray and Alton Brown, of the ones you listed.

When it was on, I used to enjoy watching the Frugal Gourmet on PBS. I learned a lot about cooking from watching that show.

I have seen a new-to-me show on Food TV called "Quick Fix Meals" which is pretty good. I don't always like the recipes she uses but I gain tips on how to cook something once and use it in 2 or more meals.

I watch cooking shows less for entertainment and more for learning about how to plan, prepare and cook meals.

Quick Fix Meals is by Robin Miller. I love the way she cooks the meat once and makes 3 meals out of it.

I have always enjoyed watching Emeril cook. I love his personality and some of the ideas he comes up with.

My favorite is Rachael. I like Emeril Live, sometimes I like to catch Tyler's Ultimate. And I really like Sandra Lee although it seems like some of the stuff she makes would turn out to cost a little bit of money.

Kathy, I love Jamie Oliver too, but I never can find him on television any more. He used to be on the Foodnetwork a year or so back. But, not anymore.

Does anyone else ever watch Dinner:Impossible on the Foodnetwork? The chef, Robert Irvine is British. He is told that he has this limited time to cook a fancy meal for a certain amount of people under difficult conditions. Once, he was asked to cook a huge meal for university VIPs at a frat house! He was given the mission early that morning and had like 10 or so hours to cook. He woke all the frat brothers up, who also didn't know they were going to be cooking. Of course, a frat house of all males was nasty, so they had a lot of cleaning to do. Another time, he had to cook a huge meal with appetizers for some VIPs at a football field. However, he was only given $300 and nothing to cook with! He was told that he had to depend on all the tailgaters to purchase the food that he needed and grills to cook with. Tonight, he cooked a meal for 4,000 people for the governor of Penn. It is the first time I have seen him intimidated by anyone.

One of the dishes tonight was sausage in a roll. When one of the other chefs working with him said, "Pigs in the blanket" you would have thought he was thinking, "Now I have heard everything!" lol Do they not have pigs in the blanket in the UK I wonder?

Anyway, it is an interesting and exciting show.

The one and only time I saw the show he had to cook for 400 (I think) Army guys and girls who just came off special training. He had like 6 hours to fix this meal from what they normally eat. It turned out they loved it. The CO was kind of rough, but it didn't seem to phase Robert one bit. I hope to catch it again. I wish I had seen the gov. of PA one since that is where I'm from.

Coll, if you are from there, you would have LOVED watching this episode. You can see a repeat of it on Sunday the 17th, at 4:30pm and 11:30pm, ET. Here are the rules (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show_ie/0,3151,FOOD_28496,00.html) the chef has to follow for this show as well as more information about the episode with the governor of Penn (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show_ie/episode/0,3151,FOOD_28496_49596,00.html).

That should be an interesting one to watch! Ed Rendell is a hoot. But delicate hors d'oevres don't seem to be his style. He's more of a cheesesteak guy.

Who is/are your favorite television chefs? Who is your absolute favorite?

Fun poll! I chose Paula Deen, the butter queen. :) Those Southern dishes are fabulous. For a second choice, I'd pick Rachael and I've made recipes that both of them have offered.

If I'd be lucky enough to have a THIRD choice, it would have to be Ina. I haven't tried her recipes and most of them don't even look very good to me, *but* I love to hear her talk... she has a certain calm classiness that makes her enjoyable to watch and listen to.

I have made a couple of Ina's recipes. My favorite is her Spinach Gratin (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_20881,00.html).

Jamie Oliver seems to do groups of shows and calls them different names so you have to watch out to see when he is on.
You can tell what part of his life it is as he was in his flat with girlfriend and he looks young and long haired. Then married and with kids and he's at his farmhouse growing and cooking his own veges, his restaurants etc.
I like the recipes they are simple and you can add or take away and keep the recipe similar.

Kathy, the episode I saw today was of him in his flat. The one that has the round stairs that he slides down? Who are the little girls? Are they his mate's children or a family member's? I have never been able to tell if he is their uncle or not? He seems good with them. DH said that he looks awfully young. I told him that was the most difficult thing for me to get used to. But, when I watch him cook, I get past his appearance and hear his maturity and skill.
