So.. please share... what will you be fixing for Memorial Day?
I am thinking we'll do more traditional. I am thinking about BBQ chicken, potato salad, baked beans, deviled eggs... that sort of thing.
What about you all? Does anyone have some creative ideas?

We will start driving back from Houston from our neice's high school graduation. So, we will be driving that day, unfortunately.
Stephanie, now you have me craving deviled eggs, potato salad, and baked beans. The only thing you need is a smoked beef brisket! ;)

We have a big cookout. I make up hamburgers and hotdogs and everyone brings a side dish. There is usually a ton of food. I cannot wait until this year's because I am not hosting it this year.

Just DH and myself so we will probably not do much special if anything. Back in the days when the DS's were living at home we usually did a cookout of something and had potato salad, macaroni salad, coleslaw, a veggie and then a couple of desserts. Sometimes we did homemade ice cream for one of the desserts.

Ahhhhh.. homemade ice cream would be *so* delish! However, we don't have an ice cream maker. Bummer. I might have to treat myself and get one this summer. There is NOTHING better than homemade ice cream. I remember my aunt's handcrank ice cream maker. We'd take turns stirring it on her big porch for Memorial Day or 4th of July. My favorite was peach!

This year Memorial Day Weekend also happens to be my birthday weekend, so my husband has decided he'll be cooking! Which means some pretty good steaks on the grill and killer stuffed mushrooms. Yay!!

Happy Birthday, Happy! :) Does your husband use a cream cheese mixture for the mushroom stuffing? If so, I've been looking for a recipe for them for a while now. Hint hint. :o
To answer the original question, we'll be doing burgers on the grill and I'll be baking an apple crumb pie. Cheating this time, though, because I bought it and won't be doing it homemade.

Happy B'day!!
For Memorial Day we will be having The Ol' Curmudgeon's Barbecued Ribs. I might make a German Potato Salad to go along with it. We won't be having anyone over this year. All the kids are going to various in-laws' for the day this year. Next year is "our" year...
Cheerio!
