Ok.. so, I am already thinking ahead to my son's birthday party. This will be the first year that we have a party and invite his little friends. What in the world should I feed them?

The party will probably be in the morning to help preserve the afternoon nap for those who still nap. So, probably around 11:00? Thus, I would serve some snacky lunch foods.

Help! I want creative, at least a few nutritious choices and foods that kids will eat.

How about birthday hat-shaped or smiley pancakes?

Fresh fruit like sliced bananas, strawberries, grapes........

Yogurt for dipping fruit or even dipping graham crackers

If you are doing cake and ice cream, you could always just do a simple meat and/or cheese sandwich that have been cut into shapes.

Pretzels and dip, crackers and cheese, graham crackers and yogurt

Mac and cheese always goes over well, too! ;)

Let us know what you decide. Happy Birthday to your son!

If you are having a morning party the only food you probably need would be the cake and some juice to drink. If you are having it close to lunchtime you could do fruit slices, soft bread sticks and bite size pieces of pasta like mini ravolis. Don't worry too much otherwise about the food, the kids will be interested in playing and maybe some games so don't over burden yourself too much. Have fun!

Mini hotdogs are always great for the kids.

Since it is a boy, what about dirt and worms cupcakes? You could make some chocolate cupcakes. Frost them with chocolate icing and sprinkle the tops with crushed Oreo cookies. Then, top with Gummi worms.

For more nutricious foods, you could do as Coll suggested and serve mini hotdogs or pigs in the blanket. You could also use English muffins and make mini pizzas.

I also like Tami's idea of fruit and something for dipping. Kids love that and it is healthy.

Good luck and let us know what you decide to do and how it turns out.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!!!!

I think I will do some fruit for dipping. I can have a variety of dips from caramel to fruit flavored yogurt.

My son loves "pigs in a blanket" so I might do those as well. Those ****tail franks wrapped in croissant always goes over well.

However, I love the "make your own pizza" idea with English Muffins. Hmmmm... so many choices!

Those dirt cupcakes sound really cute. I don't think they'll work for my son since he isn't big on getting his hands dirty. I don't think he'd eat it! :p

I was never fortunate enough to have a boy who did not like getting dirty! If he wasn't attracted to dirt, dirt was attracted to him. He was a regular "Pigpin." lol

Let us know how your party turns out.
