I am usually taken out to dinner or my family cooks for me. Since I graduate the day before and my DD, my MIL, and myself will all be together on Mother's Day, I don't know what we'll be doing this year. Sometimes, I get served breakfast in bed, which I enjoy.

I like to stay home on Mother's Day, and I do wind up cooking for myself but that is my choice. HOWEVER, someone ELSE has to clean up the mess I make in the kitchen! :D To me, that's a great gift. I can cook all I want with no dishes to wash or floor to sweep.
Mothers Day-
I used to cook something special for my mom and we'd have dinner with her and dad.
I'd buy her a teddy bear or a nice fern.
This year I'll probably go to the cemetary and leave her a nice bouquet. After that maybe I'll get lucky and the kids will take me out for dinner.

When I lived in the same city as my mother I cooked for her and my sister. Now I will still cook but just call her and tell her about it. When she comes to visit later in the month I will prepare a special meal for her

We just found out that because of graduation, we all will be driving to Deming to a BBQ at my DH's cousin's house as she is graduating too with some type of degree in nursing. Since it is Mother's Day and my DD, my MIL and our families, we will all get together. Seems like a double celebration!

It depends. Last year the kiddos and my husband served me breakfast in bed. The year prior to that my ex-husband had the kiddos and my husband and I had the day to ourselved which I enjoyed surprisingly much. However, we tend to go out to brunch with my mother and the kids and my husband's mother if we can all manage to be in the same place at once. For a few years my grandparents would visit on Mother's Day so there were 4 generations celebrating at once!

Well now that sounds like a mighty good idea! I may just have to give that one a try sometime! Not this year though... this year I'm going for Chinese buffet. :)

Enjoy the Chinese buffet, Katharina! I love Chinese food.
I might be cooking amid paint fumes this year, LOL! I asked DH to remove the wallpaper in the bathroom and paint the room the color of my choice as my Mother's Day gift. He thinks I'm nuts but he said, "You go and buy the paint. I'll take care of everything else."

I actually wouldn't like breakfast in bed at all. I like to get up and get moving. Eating food over my covers just doesn't appeal to me at all.
I told my husband that he is in charge of *everything* on Mother's Day. I think he is going to grill out in the evening. He is also in charge of our 2yo for the day. I love my dear toddler, but I need a break. So, my husband and my son leaving the house for a bit and giving me complete quiet would be heaven.

I need to click more than one on the poll.
I always get breakfast in bed, sometimes I get dinner or lunch out and we always visit both mums some time during the day.
This year we are all collecting here for lunch I will make the bulk of lunch, mil is bringing salad and my mum is bringing dessert, they don't want me doing it all as I'm a mum to. The men folk will do the clean up, which as you say is the best part making your mess and not have to clean it all up.
The kids buy me flowers and make a card, that is my fave gift.
DS 1 is not working but some bright spark doing the school rehersals, made sun13th rehersal day so dh and ds1 will have to leave at some point in the day this year, I hope after lunch.
Stephanie that is what my presents have always been when kids were young, I'd still do all the cooking etc but when the kids wanted or needed something doing dad did it, it was wonderful.

Kathy, I bet I don't get breakfast in bed this year, but we'll see. My DS will be here staying with us in our little trailer.
