This one isn't so much a substitution as a combination. I've fouind that when i make chocolate chip cookies they are much moister and thicker when I use half butter and half Crisco. They don't flatten and crisp up so much that way.

Have you ever tried the butter flavored Crisco or do you just like the effect the combination has on your cookies? I have never tried it and will have to try it in the future when I make cookies with my GKs.

I have tried the butter flavored Crisco but I find it harder to work with than regular Crisco, the texture is different. I like the combination better because my cookies consistently turn out better. There's nothing like craving a really good chocolate chip cookie only to have them be flat and crsipy when they come out of the oven

Have you used the butter flavored Crisco sticks? They seem to work better than what's in the can.

I've tried them but I hate to admit I am a tremendous cheapskate and don't like to (and can't) pay that much for 4 sticks of Crisco. Instead I tend to buy the store brand in the can.
