I *think* I am in the market for a rice cooker. I have heard great things about them. I have heard they make rice perfectly plus they can steam veggies too. Does anyone have one? Is any brand better than others? What do you use yours for? THANKS!

My Aunt used to have one and I am so sorry that I can't remember the name, but it cooks excellent and she only spent a small amount of money on it. I will have to ask her the name and then post it here.

I have two, an electric one and a microwave one. they are both EXCELLENT. I cannot cook rice to save my life but since buying these two, my rice always comes out perfectly. I got the electric one from Kmart and the microwave from Walmart right about the microwaves. Easy to clean. My mother has one that she bought years ago but hers you use on the stove. I never figured out how to work hers but mine are simple and they have easy to follow instructions and recipes

I have a tabletop rice cooker which I love. I didn't know they made them for the microwave! Does it work well? Does the rice come out the same?

I don't like a lot of kitchen appliances which take up counter space, but a rice cooker is one thing I make room for. I make sushi alot and a cooker is the only way to get it sticky and perfect for sushi.

I am terrible at cooking rice. I don't have one of these yet but a friend of mine does and she swears by it. I didn't know that they made ones for the microwave though.

I have an Aroma rice cooker. It has a steamer which I will admit I never use.
I am generally not one to want "single-purpose appliances" but this is worth the space and the money. I think they are under $25.

I love my microwave rice cooker. Rice comes out perfect and you can flavor it anyway you want. 15-20 minutes to perfect rice, no watching or turning it down. I have never in my life been able to cook rice. Now I cook it all the time and it always comes out perfect. this one cost right at $6

I found in a thrft store for $3.00 a microwave rice cooker that I love! It is a Progressive Microwave Rice Cooker. It is very simple to use and the rice comes out perfect everytime! Even my DH can cook rice in it! Gives him part of the meal to fix while I do the rest also! LOL It is an all plastic cooker and in the store I probably would not have bought it at whatever regular price it probably sold for, but at $3.00 in the thrift store it was worth a try. I don't think it must have ever been used, all the componets are there including the cookbook. I just love it!!!

A bread machine and a rice cooker have been on my thrift store list, too. ;)
Today, I found a bread machine for $3.73 at GoodWill. :) I got the manual for it online for free.
Now to find a rice cooker! ;)
Thanks for all of the reviews.
