I have tried SB and Atkins, both with success--Atkins more so
I have tried many magazine diets, the tunafish diet, cabbage soup diet....all of those failure diets.

I have tried Richard Simmons, but not for very long. I have done the proper food combining with great success. I choose not to diet right now.
I've had the most success with the Richard Simmons diet, but I did really well with eating less and cutting out candy/sweets and between meal snacks. I received a couple of diet programs from a woman I work with. I might try one of them when things settle down a bit more. One of them is a 3 day on/4 day off diet that is supposed to help you loose 10 pounds quickly.

Low Carb is working great for me. I could have lost more and quicker but I want to keep it very slow so that I adjust to eating this way as a way of life, rather than just a "diet" so I eat more carbs per day than most low carb dieters eat.
Plus, it helps control my blood glucose.

it's easy, you can adapt it to what you need, and it's not really a diet. Just good health. Hope it's useful :)

I joined SPARKpeople.com in July, it's free!
I lost 38 pounds last year and I've been holding it there for 2 months and not had a problem. It has nutrition and exercise trackers that help you to live healthy as you reach the right weight. It can be used for loosing as well as gaining weight.
Before SPARK I was on nutrisystem, weight watchers, slim-fast, Adkins, and almost every fad diet out there. I lost but it always came back. On SPARK I've learned how to eat healthy most of the time so I can enjoy birthdays, holidays, and even ice cream parlors with the grandkids.
SPARKpeople has teams where everyone encourages each other. It is friendly like FamilyCorner!

What works well for me is just reducing portion size. I think that I can deal the best with moderation and not really any organized plan.

I hate trying to diet when the rest of my family isn't. :( It's just so frustrating having to fix two different meals, that I just don't bother. I guess I need to start cutting down on amounts rather than eat a special "diet."

Yes, that's a good plan. I'd never (and never have) make a different meal for myself than everyone else is having. Fad diets that use "special" foods won't work unless one plans to eat something like cabbage every day for the rest of their life, I think.

I'm a Christian and I recently started a bible study with Beth Moore and we are studying the book of Daniel. She challenges us to be like Daniel and one being not to eat Rich meats. Also to eat only those foods from a sewn seed. I have been doing this for 3 weeks now and I feel so much better. Yes, I have a few weaknesses but overall it has been wonderful. I prayed about it too. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week. Right now I'm building muscle more than weight loss which I know can be frustrating. None the less, I have faith this will make me so much healthier for me and my children. I have pasted the details below.

The Daniel Fast
Step One: Be Specific
Daniel was not vague in his objection to the Babylonian diet. He defined the problem immediately.
1. The king's food was against dietary laws.
2. Daniel and his friends had vowed against wine.
3. The king's food had been offered up to idols/demons.
Step Two: Fast as a Spiritual Commitment
The Daniel Fast involves a spiritual commitment to God. "Daniel proposed in his heart that he would not defile himself" (Daniel 1:8 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Daniel1:8;&version=9;)).
Step Three: Reflect Inner Desire by Outer Discipline
Many people have an inner desire for better health, but they can't discipline themselves to avoid junk food, and other foods that were not good for health. The physical health you seek from God may be more than an answer to prayer. Your physical health may be linked to any of the following factors:
1. Your food choices.
2. The level of your spiritual commitment as reflected in constant prayer during the fast.
3. Your time commitment. If you determine to fast for a certain time, keep it. For example, if you determine to fast 10 days, don't stop on Day 9.
4. Your testimony commitment. Your fast is a statement of faith to God that you want Him to heal your body, and faith is foundational to the Daniel Fast.
Step Four: Pray to Perceive Sin's Role in Poor Health
Notice James 5:13-16 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James5:13-16;&version=9;):
Sin is something related to the cause of sickness.
Lack of health/healing may be the result of spiritual rebellion.
Lack of health/healing may be due to sin of wrong intake, i.e. drugs, pornography.
Repentance is linked to health according to James.
Elders have a role in healing both spiritual and physical health.
Sick people must desire to be well
The anointing oil could mean 1. Medicine for healing,
2. Symbolic of the Holy Spirit, or
3. It could be baptism
Prayer alone may not gain healing, faith is the major factor.
In Greek there are several words for "sick". James uses "Kanino", which not only includes disease, but also means weak or weary.
Attitude is important. James said, "are there any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms." Step Five: Fast as a Statement of Faith to Others
Daniel was making a statement of faith when he asked for only vegetables to eat and water to drink, then dared the overseer to compare the appearance of the four sons of Israel with the young men who ate the king's food.
Step Six: Learn the Effects of the Food You Eat
Why are some foods good for us, and other foods not? What does certain food do to your body? If we really knew, there would likely be some things we would never eat again.
Step Seven: Yield All Results to God
Daniel said, "as you see fit, deal with your servants" (Dan. 1:13 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Daniel1:13;&version=9;)).
Remember:
The Daniel Fast will lead to spiritual insight. "to those four young men God gave knowledge".
The Daniel Fast is longer than one day. These young men fasted for ten days.
The Daniel Fast is a partial fast. They ate, but only vegetables and water.
The Daniel Fast requires abstinence from party or junk foods.
There is no indication that they ever began to eat the king's food.

I've tried them all. When I stick to them they work, but when I lose my motivation I gain the weight back. I'm trying to psych myself up to just focus on being healthy. I'm walking some and I'm trying to remind myself to eat 3 meals & snacks each day so that I don't pig out at night. Evening eating is my biggest downfall. I need to go to the store and buy some veggies so that I can snack on them in the evening when I have the munchies.
