My Cherry tree is just loaded with cherries this year. It is still rather small and a dwarf one at that. But if I can get the cherries before the birds we will need several new recipes to use them with. So do you have any out there you would be willing to share?:)

Cat lover, I got this from allrecipes.com. I know I have plenty of fresh cherry pie recipes somewhere, I just cannot locate them. Anyway, see if this is what you want:

Baked Fresh Cherry Pie

INGREDIENTS:
• 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
• 4 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca
• 1/8 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup white sugar
• 4 cups pitted cherries
• 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 1/2 tablespoons butter

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C). Place bottom crust in piepan. Set top crust aside, covered.
2. In a large mixing bowl combine tapioca, salt, sugar, cherries and extracts. Let stand 15 minutes. Turn out into bottom crust and dot with butter. Cover with top crust, flute edges and cut vents in top. Place pie on a foil lined cookie sheet --- in case of drips!
3. Bake for 50 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown.

Thanks DeBora; I'm actually looking for any good cherry recipes any one might want to share. Everyone's recipes are usually a little different so I'd like to "experiment with other peoples. Sometimes that is the way you end up with a "favorite" recipe!:D

I guess I should have also asked you if you thought about canning the cherries and then make a pie from that. I have made pies (not cherry though) from home canned fruits. Hopefully someone will post a cool cherry pie recipe.

Yes I have done that long ago, but haven't canned any yet from my trees. I may end up doing that with some of them, but the tree isn't full grown yet so right now I want to just make things fresh with them, but defintely will be canning some later! Thanks!
